Good morning Wednesday warriors and welcomed back to Stuck In The Vinyl Again . Today we remember Milan, Ohio inventor and businessman, Thomas Alva Edison. He was born February 11, 1847 in Ohio, but his parents Samuel Ogden Edison Jr. and Nancy Matthews Elliott moved to Port Huron, Michigan in 1854. He was the youngest of their 8 children. Early in his career he worked as a telegraph operator. This experience would influence some of his work which includes electric power generation, mass communication, sound recording, motion pictures, GE, the light bulb and one very near and dear to our hearts, the phonograph record. He passed away on this day in 1931, age 84, from diabetes complications.
So what do we do on a day like today? Spin records, of course. Today's soundtrack, Rock Menu - Hot Platter Of Chrysalis Hits by various artists was released in 1986 on the Chrysalis label. It features choice cuts from great acts such as Huey Lewis And The News, Pat Benatar, Billy Idol, Go West, Ultravox, Nick Gilder, and more.
