Mychal Massie :The Daily Rant : Once again, I state -- it is time for us to take the bull by the horns
I'd like to share comments my friend and colleague John Brinson, Chairman of Lehigh Valley Tax Limitation Committee made to Congressman Charlie Dent, (R-PA). John's words are spot on. It is also important to note that Europe is abandoning its failed Euro-Socialist practices at the very time Obama is pushing America into them. Is Obama an arse, stupid, or so blindly committed to transmogrifying America into a Socialist State that no cost is too great?
John told Dent, "Every weather disaster is blamed on 'greenhouse gases' and 'man-made global warming.' But greenhouse gases are essential to the life on earth. And, CO2 is a very minor greenhouse gas (4%) and man contributes only 3 percent of that 4 percent. The total is only .03x.04=.0012. We're talking miniscule - about one tenth of one percent. We cannot control the climate no matter how hard we try."
He also said, "While Obama pushes ahead with his demands ('If Congress doesn't act - I will') other countries are backpedalling because of the ruinous economic consequences of green mandates and subsidies."
He quoted Walter Russell Mead: "Consumers in Europe are revolting against their countries' green energy policies. For over a decade, the governments of Germany and Spain have been funding their subsidies for solar and wind energy by passing on large costs to the consumer. In Germany, an extra charge is added to household electricity bills, and that charge nearly doubled in January. Worried about the consumer reaction, Merkel's government is now furiously backpedalling." (Via Meadia; 2/17/13)
