Popular online site Fusion.net is asking its readers for help mapping out all of the locations in the United States where some kind of Confederate memorial or mention can be found. They are inserting points into Google Maps and promise updates as more and more feedback is received. http://fusion.net/story/155373/help-us-map-the-last-remaining-monum...;
"Help us map the last remaining monuments of the Confederacy," the plea states. Though not specifically stated as a takedown of all things Confederate history, writer Patrick Hogan is praising the condemnation of the Confederate flag and its eventual removal from state's grounds. Once the flag is gone in South Carolina, Hogan wants the state to "take a look" at all other references to the Civil War, such as schools, government buildings, or roads named after generals or aspects of the war.
The Civil War ended 150 years ago, but physical signs of its presence are seen all over the South: monuments, courthouses, schools, cities, counties. They can even be found in places you wouldn’t expect, as far afield as Ridgefield, Washington, or Helena, Montana.
Hogan used Wikipedia to find locations but is calling for a more comprehensive list to include cemeteries and battlefield memorial sites. And its working, as the comments section is filling up fast with more map points. http://www.truthrevolt.org/news/popular-site-asks-help-identifying-...
