Good morning gang and welcome back to Saturday's Singles, a number ones edition. First up in our way back machine, we travel to this date in 1962, when Bobby Vinton had the number one song in the land with, "Roses Are Red (My Love)". The track, written by Al Byron and Paul Evans, was released on Epic Records and produced by Robert Morgan was Vinton's first hit. In addition to topping the Hot 100 and Easy Listening charts, the tune also led the charts in Australia, Canada, New Zealand, Norway, and South Africa. It's B-side is "You and I".

A few years down the road our second number one on this day in 1983 was "Every Breath You Take" by The Police. The song, written by Sting, and hailing from the English rock band's 5th and final album, Synchronicity, on A&M Records, also claimed the top position in Canada, Ireland, Israel, South Africa, the UK, the Mainstream Rock charts, and the Cash Box. It's B-side is "Murder By Numbers". It is considered a "stalker" song.
