Good morning gang and welcome to the return of Saturday's Singles. First up in our way bay machine, we travel to August 14th, 1941 to the birth of future singer songwriter, David Crosby. Happy 80th Birthday David ! He would enjoy success in both the rock rock The Byrds and the supergroup Crosby, Stills, Nash, & Young. It's the latter that we focus on today with the title track to their 5th album, American Dream. The song was released November 1st, 1988 on the Atlantic label. It reached #55 in the UK, #4 on the Mainstream Rock charts, and #3 in Canada. It's B-side was the tune "Compass" and even though we have the picture sleeve indicating as much, our copy is a promotional copy with "American Dream" on both sides.

Our second trip down memory lane is a more sullen one, as we travel to this day in 1992, when former lead singer of The Platters, Tony Williams, passed away at the age 64, from  emphysema. He was with The platters from 1953 - 1960 before going solo. During his tenure, they released this song, "You'll Never Never Know", in 1956 on Mercury Records. The non album track peaked at #23 in the UK and #11 in the US. It's B-side, "It Isn't Right", also a non album track, reached #23 in the UK, and #11 in the US.
