SATURDAY'S SINGLES : FRANKIE AVALON and KANSAS

Good morning gang and welcome to the return of Saturday's Singles, a Birthday edition. First up on our calendar of cake is Philadelphia born actor, singer, and former teen idol, Frankie Avalon ! He was born in 1939 and is celebrating his 82nd Birthday today. Happy Birthday Frankie ! In 1959 he had a #7 hit with "Just Ask Your Heart" on Chancellor Records. It's B-side is the tune, "Two Fools". I had to look that part up because the label is damaged on that side.

Our second Birthday boy is Topeka born guitarist, keyboardist and founding member of progressive rock band Kansas. Happy 72nd Birthday to Kerry Livgren ! The title track to their 2nd album, Song For America was released in April 1975 on the Kirshner label. The single had been thinned down from a running time of 10 minutes to 3 minutes and did not chart, but has become a favorite for live performances and greatest hits compilations. It's flip side is "Lonely Wind" from Two For The Show.
