Good morning gang and welcome to the return of Saturday's Singles . First up, under our needle is Philadelphia, born and raised,  recording star, vocalist, songwriter, lyricist, record producer, author, and poet, Len Barry, (real name : Leonard Warren Borisoff ) who would have celebrated his 79th Birthday today. He passed away in November 2020, of bone marrow cancer. His 1965 Decca single, "1 - 2 - 3", reached #4 in South Africa, #3 in the UK, #2 on the Hot 100, and #1 on the Cashbox. It was the title track from his debut album, and featured the tune, "Bullseye" on it's flip side. Before his solo career, Barry co founded the Doo Wop group, the Dovells.

Our second Saturday's Singles selection comes to us via Italian American singer, Lou Monte, best known for a string of Italian themed novelty hits, like this one,  "Pepino the Italian Mouse".  "Pepino the Italian Mouse" was released in 1962 on the Reprise label. It peaked at #5 on the Hot 100, selling over a million copies. It was from his 4th EP, which was later expanded into the LP, Pepino, the Italian Mouse & Other Italian Fun Songs. It's B-side is "What Did Washington Say (When He Crossed The Delaware)" Both songs are a delight to listen to. Monte passed away 32 years ago on this day in 1989, age 72. I could not find a cause of death listed.
