Good morning gang and welcome to the return of Saturday's Singles. Today we celebrate the 62nd Birthday of British-born American guitarist and songwriter, Vernon Reid, best known for his work in the fusion metal band Living Colour. Happy Birthday Vernon ! To commemorate the date we spotlight, their best known and signature song, "Cult Of Personality". The track was released July 14, 1988 on the Epic label and produced by Ed Stasium. The song hailed from their Grammy Award winning album, Vivid (#6 Billboard 200) and reached #13 on the Hot 100 and #9 on the Mainstream Rock Charts. It's B-side, "Funny Vibes",was also released as a single, but failed to chart, and features Chuck D and Flavor Flav of Public Enemy fame.

Our second single comes on the heels of the sad news yesterday that Quiet Riot drummer Frankie Banali had passed away at age 68 from stage-IV pancreatic cancer. Rest in peace Frankie. With him in mind, we find ourselves spinning their July 1983 hit, "Cum On Feel The Noize". The tune, released on the Pasha label and produced by Spencer Proffer was a cover of Slade's international 1973 hit, and came from QR's third studio album, Metal Health (#1 Billboard 200). The single reached #7 on the Mainstream Rock charts and #5 on the Hot 100. It's B-side is "Run For Cover", from the same LP.
