Good morning gang and welcome back to Saturday's Singles, a Birthday edition. First up on our calendar of cake is Roland Kent LaVoie, better known as folk/ country rock artist Lobo. He was born in 1942 in Tallahassee, Florida and is turning 78 years old today. Happy Birthday Lobo. He has local connections as he was raised here in Polk County and played in bands with  Gram Parsons, Jim Stafford, and the pioneer of country rock drumming, Jon Corneal. To wish Lobo a great day, we find ourselves spinning his single, "She Didn't Do Magic". The track (#46 in the Hot 100) was released in 1971 on Big Tree Records and produced by Phil Gernhard, It hailed from his debut record Introducing Lobo (#178 Billboard 200) and features the tune, "I'm the Only One" (#76 Hot 100, #14 Adult Contemporary) on the B-side.

Our second piece of cake goes to New Jersey born drummer, guitarist, vocalist, and son of comedian Jerry Lewis, Gary Lewis, who is celebrating his 75th Birthday today. Happy Birthday Gary ! With him in mind, we spotlight the title track to Gary Lewis & The Playboys' 3rd record, Everybody Loves A Clown (#44 Billboard 200 Liberty Reords). The song,  written by Snuff Garrett, Gary Lewis, and Leon Russell reached #4 on the Hot 100 and features "Time Stands Still" on the flip side. We had the great fortune of seeing Gary Lewis perform live in 2015, on the Happy Together Tour with The Turtles at the Florida Strawberry Festival in Plant City, Florida. It was a great show.
