SATURDAY'S SINGLES : THE MITCH MILLER ORCHESTRA and THE VALLEY YOUTH CHORALE

Good morning and Seasons Greetings gang and welcome to the Christmas Eve 2022 e3dition of Saturday's Singles on Stuck In The Vinyl Again's Week Of Winter Wonderland Christmas Music Countdown. The BIG day is just a matter of hours away and we couldn't be more excited to celebrate with you as you celebrate with your loved ones. The first gift we share this morning is this 1964 Felsted Records release, "Do You Hear What I Hear" by The Valley Youth Chorale. The song was written by French World War II veteran Noël Regney,  (born Léon Schlienger; 19 August 1922 – 22 November 2002) and his Wife, Gloria Shayne Baker ( September 4, 1923 – March 6, 2008) in 1962. The label credits him as the musical director. There is very little information I could find for this release, but I did see that Felsted Records is associated with British Decca. The flip side of this 45 contains the song, "The Little Bell" , also written by the Husband and Wife team. All in all the songs were a nice little trip down memory lane and a joy to listen to.

A Do You Hear What I Hear 2:54

B The Little Bell 2:35

Our next stocking stuffer in the form of a song is a first for our page because it is a 78 RPM . Rudolph The Red-Nose Reindeer, performed by Mike Stewart, The Sandpipers , Mitch Miller And Orchestra was released in 1951 on the Golden Records. This is considered a 6" record as it is just a little smaller than your regular 7" 45. Rudolph was written by Mount Vernon, New York native, Johnny Marks (John David Marks - November 10, 1909 - September 3, 1985) , who also wrote such as classics as  "Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree", "A Holly Jolly Christmas", and "Run Rudolph Run". The B-side is "The Reindeers' Dance", written by Rochester, New York, composer Alec Wilder (Alexander Lafayette Chew Wilder - February 16, 1907 -  December 24, 1980) and performed by Mitch Miller and Orchestra.
