SATURDAY'S SINGLES - UB40 and THE ROLLING STONES

Good morning gang and welcome to the return of Saturday's Singles. Last week dealt quite a blow to the music world with the deaths of UB40 saxophonist, Brian Travers on Sunday (08/22/21), age 62 from cancer, doom/stoner vocalist Eric Wagner of Trouble and The Skull, also 62, from Covid (09/24/21) , and of course, Legendary drummer Charlie Watts of The Rolling Stones, who died at age 80, also on the 24th after a medical procedure. They all are severely missed and our Hearts, Thoughts, and Prayers go out to them, their Fans, Family, and Friends. Today we bring you singles from two of them. First up we have the song, "Red, Red Wine" by UB40. The tune was released August 8, 1983 on the A&M label and produced by Ray "Pablo" Falconer and UB40. The song, hailing from the British reggae band's 4th album, Labour Of Love, peaked at #1 in Canada, Ireland, the Netherlands, New Zealand, the UK, and the Billboard Hot 100. It's B-side is "Sufferin'". "Red, Red Wine" was originally recorded in 1967 by Neil Diamond, for his second record, Just For You.

Next up under the needle we have "Ruby Tuesday" by The Rolling Stones. The song was released on the London label on January 13, 1967. It was produced by Andrew Loog Oldham. The tune, from their 7th American release, Between The Buttons, reached #6 in Ireland, #4 in South Africa, #3 in the UK, #2 in Australia and Canada, and #1 on the Cash Box and Hot 100. It's flip side is  "Let's Spend the Night Together" (#55 Hot 100, #28 Cash Box, #14 Ireland, #7 Belgium, #3 in Austria and the UK, #2 ion Norway, and #1 in Germany. It also hails from Between The Buttons.
