STUCK IN THE VINYL AGAIN - APRIL WINE - HARDER ... FASTER

Good morning faithful readers and welcome back to the Thursday edition of Stuck In The Vinyl Again . Well, we couldn't let the month slip away without having a little wine ... April Wine, that is. The hard rock band from Halifax, Nova Scotia started their career in 1969 and have released over 25 albums in the years following, but it is their 8th studio album, Harder ... Faster, in which we tune our collective attention to today. The LP was released in October of 1979 on the Aquarius and Capitol labels and produced by vocalist, Myles Goodwyn and Nick Blagona. It peaked at #64 on the Billboard 200 and #25 on the Canadian Albums chart. It has been certified Gold in the US. The album gave birth to two singles ; "Say Hello" (#104 Hot 100, #34 Canada) and the album's lead track and one of the band's most well known songs, "I Like to Rock" (#86 Hot 100, #75 Canada, #41 UK). "I Like To Rock" is an interesting song. As it ends you can hear the main riffs to the Beatles' "Day Tripper" and the Rolling Stones' "(I Can't Get No) Satisfaction" playing simultaneously. They close out the album with a pretty nifty cover of King Crimson's "21st Century Schizoid Man". We have three April Wine albums in all and all of the m were purchased years ago at Lakeland's own, The Wax And The Needle. Apparently they were all owned by the same person as they all have the name Summers written in black marker on them.
