Today marks 29 years since the death of composer, conductor, arranger, pianist and flutist, Henry Mancini. He was born April 16, 1924 to parents, Quintiliano "Quinto" Mancini,  a laborer at the Jones and Laughlin Steel Company and amateur musician and  His mother Anna. He died in 1994, age 70, from pancreatic cancer. Rest in peace Henry. The man who would become one of our lifetime's greatest composers of movie and television soundtracks, joined the Army at age 18, and helped free the Mauthausen-Gusen concentration camp in Austria. (Thank you for your Service, Sir.) On this occasion we spotlight Charade: Music from the Motion Picture Score Composed and Conducted by Henry Mancini. The LP was released in 1963 on the RCA Victor label and produced by Joe Reisman. It peaked at #6 on the Billboard 200 and gave birth to one single, the title track (#36 Hot 100, #15 Adult Contemporary). The film Charade, produced and directed by Stanley Donen, stars Cary Grant and Audrey Hepburn.
