STUCK IN THE VINYL AGAIN - ED BRUCE - GREATEST HITS

Good morning, morning people and welcome back to the Thursday edition of Stuck In The Vinyl Again . He was born on this day in 1939 in Keiser, Arkansas and the he in question is country music songwriter, singer, and actor, Ed Bruce, who is probably best known for co- writing, along with his Wife, Patsy Bruce,  the outlaw country anthem,  "Mammas Don't Let Your Babies Grow Up to Be Cowboys". Of course it was made most famous by Waylon Jennings and Willie Nelson, who took it to #12 in 1976. I have a nearly lifelong connection with this song, as it and Jan And Dean's "Dead Man Curve", are the first two songs I really remember taking a deep look/listen at/to. Ed passed away January 8, 2021, age 81, from natural causes. Today marks what would have been his 83rd Birthday.

The last Thursday of 2022 finds us listening to his first greatest hits package, conveniently titled, Greatest Hits. The LP was released in 1985 on MCA Records and produced by Tommy West. Included on the disc are the tunes, "The Last Cowboy Song" (with Willie Nelson), (#12 Hot country Songs), "Girls, Women and Ladies" (#14  Hot country Songs) , "You're the Best Break This Old Heart Ever Had" (#1 Hot country Songs).
