STUCK IN THE VINYL AGAIN - ELVIS PRESLEY - ELVIS : A LEGENDARY PERFORMER VOLUME 1

Good morning Wednesday warriors and welcome back to Stuck In The Vinyl Again. Today we remember Tennessee born bassist and bandleader Bill Black, on this, the 55th anniversary of his death. He passed away in 1965, age 39, from a brain tumor. He is known as one of rock n roll founders, for his early work with Elvis and a member of the The Blue Moon Boys. Later he led his own outfit The Bill Black Combo. It's his early work with Elvis that has us toe tapping today.  Elvis: A Legendary Performer Volume 1 is a compilation album, released January 2, 1974 on the RCA label. It collects 12 songs and two interview excerpts. The LP reached #43 on the Billboard 200 and has been certified 3X Platinum, as of 2018. It comes with a nice 'memory log' booklet with pictures and mementos from young Elvis' life.
