STUCK IN THE VINYL AGAIN- FRANK SINATRA - SINATRA AT THE SANDS

Good morning gang and welcome back to Stuck In The vinyl Again. On this day in 1960,  American singer, actor and producer, Frank Sinatra, started his own record label, Reprise Records, largely in part due to his dissatisfaction with Capitol Records and his desire for more creative freedom. Some of the original roster included  Dean Martin, Sammy Davis, Jr.,  Bing Crosby, Jo Stafford, Rosemary Clooney, Duke Ellington, Nancy Sinatra, Esquivel and  Redd Foxx. To commemorate the day we spotlight Sinatra's first live album, Sinatra At The Sands. The LP was released July of 1966, on (you guessed it)  the Reprise label and produced by Sonny Burke. Frank was accompanied by Count Basie and his orchestra, and th whole affair was conducted and arranged by Quincy Jones. It was recorded live at the Copa Room of the Sands Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas. The album reached #9 on the Billboard 200 and #7 in the UK. It has been certified Gold.
