STUCK IN THE VINYL AGAIN - FRED FINN AND THE ENTIRE TELEVISION SHOW ORIGINAL CAST - MICKIE FINN'S AMERICA'S NO. 1 SPEAKEASY

Good morning Monday people and welcome back to Stuck In The Vinyl again. We hope your Christmas vacation was the best one yet and like us you are looking forward to the coming of the New Year and all it brings with it. Today we take a look at Mickie Finn's, a nightclub in San Diego, California, opened in 1960. by piano player Fred E. Finn (Fred Soetje) and his banjo playing Wife Barbara, who also went by the stage name, Mickie Finn. They converted an old warehouse into a "Gay '90s / Roaring '20s / Swinging '30s" nightclub and in their first 14 years of business, four million customers consumed 250,000 gallons of beer. This led to a second club in Beverly Hills, an NBC television variety show in 1966, several records, an a stage show. The duo excelled in ragtime, Dixieland and jazz, as exemplified by our record of choice today.   Mickie Finn's - America's No. 1 Speakeasy by Fred Finn And The Entire Television Show Original Cast was released in 1966 on the Dunhill label. On it we find the rambunctious house band diving into fun and energetic instrumental covers of Roger Miller, Bing Crosby, Bent Fabric, Sam Lanin's Dance Orchestra, and more. The album's front cover features wonderful artwork by illustrator, W.T. Vinson, who provided work for magazines like Hot Rod Cartoons, National Lampoon, West Magazine, Rolling Stone, Scientific American, Playboy and others. It was even a mystery to him how he was never featured in MAD Magazine or EC Comics.
