STUCK IN THE VINYL AGAIN - GEORGE JONES AND MELBA MONTGOMERY - BLUEGRASS HOOTENANNY

Good Tuesday morning to you all and welcome back to Stuck In The Vinyl Again . Today we remember Texas native, singer songwriter,  and guitarist, George Jones, on this the 9th anniversary of his passing. He was born September 12, 1931 and died April 26, 2013, age 81 from  hypoxic respiratory failure. Jones, known to many as "The Possum" recorded over 100 albums during his over 6 decade career, including collaborative albums with Margie Singleton,  Gene Pitney, Judy Lynn, Johnny Paycheck, Merle Haggard, Willie Nelson, and Melba Montgomery. In fact, he had 5 in all with her, but it is their second one, Bluegrass Hootenanny, that is our subject of sound today. Bluegrass Hootenanny was released in 1964 on the United Artists label and produced by Pappy Daily. It peaked at #12 on the Top Country Albums chart and it's sole single, "Please Be My Love" reached #31 on the Hot Country Songs chart . Our copy is a white label Promotional copy.

On a side note,  Melba Montgomery is now 83 years old and since 1997 has focused on her songwriting career penning tunes for the likes of  George Strait, Reba McEntire, Randy Travis, Patty Loveless, Travis Tritt,  John Prine, Jim Lauderdale, Sara Evans, Eddy Arnold,  Leon Russell, J.D. Souther, and many more.
