Good morning, morning people and welcome back to the Thursday edition of Stuck In The Vinyl Again . Today our record of choice is this 1970 Columbia compilation, Heavy Sounds. The LP features choice cuts from great acts such as Big Brother And The Holding Company, Blood, Sweat And Tears, It's A Beautiful Day, Laura Nyro, Mongo Santamaria, and more. We bought this album in 2016 in Sanford, Florida. I remember it like it was yesterday. My beautiful Wife and I were listening to our local morning radio show, Mayhem In The AM (now Polk County Live) and they were doing their weekly Lakeland Live segment where they have bands performing in the studio. That week's particular live act was a band called Black In The Mind. Both Lynn and I commented that we'd like to hear the full band, as this performance only featured a couple of the bandmembers in an acoustic setting. It was time for her to go to work, so I dropped her off and on my way back home the radio station gave away tickets to see the group. I called in and won, so we made a weekend of it in Sanford. We saw the band on Friday night, which featured Billy Floyd, who is now in the Kitchen Killaz. On Saturday we went to thrift and antique shops, a comic book shop, and a couple of record stores including Maya Books and Music, where we bought this compilation .
