Today we joyfully celebrate the 85th Birthday of Texas born singer-songwriter and actor Kris Kristofferson, best known for his solo work, as well as his work with s Waylon Jennings, Willie Nelson and Johnny Cash, in the country music supergroup, the Highwaymen. Happy Birthday Kris ! He released his 4th studio album, Jesus Was a Capricorn, in =November of 1972 on the Monument label. The Fred Foster produced record reached #31 on the Billboard 200, #27 in Canada, and #1 on the Country Albums chart. The title track (#91 Hot 100, #87 Canada), "Jesse Younger" (#72 Canadian Adult Contemporary), and "Why Me" (#67 Australia, #28 US Adult Contemporary, #23 Canadian Adult Contemporary, #19 Canada, #16 Hot 100, #1 on both the US and Canadian Country charts) were released as singles. As it's full title implies, the song, "Jesus Was a Capricorn (Owed to John Prine)" is dedicated and inspired by John Prine.
