Today we joyfully celebrate the 76th Birthday of Texas born singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist,  Michael Martin Murphey. Happy Birthday Michael ! His career, spanning 6 decades and over 33 albums, have seen him dabble in cowboys ballads, Western, Outlaw country, country rock and pop. His fifth album, Swans Against The Sun,  was released under the name Michael Murphey, in 1976 on the Epic label and produced by Bob Johnston. It peaked at #92 in Canada, #47 on the American Country charts, and #44 on the Billboard 200. "Renegade" (#48 Canada, #39 Hot 100), "Mansion On The Hill" ( #36 US Country, #20 Canada Country) and "Rhythm Of The Road" (failed to chart) were released as singles. To guest musician list reads like a who's who list of performers, and features John Denver, John McEuen, Charlie Daniels, Earl Palmer, Willie Nelson, and Jeff Hanna, to name a few .
