STUCK IN THE VINYL AGAIN - MOTHER'S FINEST - MOTHER'S FINEST LIVE

Good morning record enthusiasts and welcome back to Sunday and the Mother's Day 2023 edition of Stuck In The Vinyl Again . Today we give thanks to all the Mom's, the ones we've lost, the ones still with us, and the ones suffering loss. We love you all. We could think of no better way to say thanks to God's finest creation than with this live album from Atlanta based rock band Mother's Finest. The group formed in 1970 when Husband and Wife duo,  Joyce "Baby Jean" Kennedy and Glenn "Doc" Murdock met guitarist Gary "Moses Mo" Moore and bassist Jerry "Wyzard" Seay. The results were a mix of funk, rock guitar, and R&B. The group has released 13 studio albums and two live albums. It's their first one, Mother's Finest Live that is our subject of sound today. The LP was recorded on tour January and February 1979 and released later that same year on the Epic label. It was produced by Bobby Colomby. In addition their work as a band, the individual members would show up in various places such as:  Joyce Kennedy guested on the Molly Hatchet song "Respect Me in the Morning" from the Take No Prisoners album, recorded "The First Time I Made Love," a duet with Jeffrey Osborne, and contributed the song "Didn't I Tell You?" to the soundtrack of the film The Breakfast Club. Drummer Barry Borden was a member of Molly Hatchet, Blackfoot, The Outlaws,  and The Marshall Tucker band. The bassist Wyzard toured with Stevie Nicks for her 1983 album The Wild Heart. In 2011 they were  inducted into the Georgia Music Hall of Fame.
