Good morning faithful readers and welcome back to the Thursday edition of Stuck In The Vinyl again. Today we remember bassist Doug Rauch, known for his work with Carly Simon, David Bowie, Papa John Creach, and Santana, on this, the 41st anniversary of his death. Doug passed away in 1979, age 28, as a result of a heroin overdose. With him in mind, we spotlight the fourth studio album by Santana, Caravanserai. Caravanserai was released  October 11, 1972 on the Columbia label and produced by Carlos Santana and  Michael Shrieve. The LP reached #8 on the Billboard 200, and #6 on the R&B album charts. It has been certified Platinum in the US.  Caravanserai was the first of three jazz fusion albums. The second two, being Welcome (1973) and Borboletta (1974).
