Good Monday morning gang ( if you believe in such things) and welcome back to Stuck In The Vinyl Again. It was on this day in 1968, that the CBS Saturday morning cartoon The Archies debuted. The show, created by  John L. Goldwater and based Bob Montana's 1941 comic strip, follows the adventures of Riverdale High School students Archie Andrews, Betty Cooper, Veronica Lodge, Reggie Mantle and Jughead Jones, including their time as a bubblegum pop rock band, conveniently called The Archies. With all this in mind, we spotlight their the third studio album, Jingle Jangle. Jingle Jangle was released in 1969 on the Kirshner label and produced by Jeff Barry. It peaked at #125 on Billboard's Top LPs chart. The title track was released as the album's sole single, and it reached #10 on the Hot 100. 

In addition to records, cartoons, and comic strips, the franchise has expanded into  many comic book titles and currently can be seen on TV in the CW show Riverdale, perhaps the darkest incarnation of the teen's adverntures. For instance in the showm "Jingle Jangle" is a highly addictive drug.
