Good morning Sunday people and welcome back to Stuck In The Vinyl Again. Today we remember Zero Mostel,  Brooklyn born actor, comedian, and singer, on what would have been his 106th Birthday. He passed away in 1977, age 62, from an  aortic aneurysm. To honor his legacy, we spotlight the soundtrack to the musical, Fiddler On The Roof. The production opened in 1964 with music by Jerry Bock, lyrics by Sheldon Harnick, and book by Joseph Stein. It starred Mostel as Tevye, a poor milkman with five daughters, who is trying to maintain his Jewish traditions amongst an everchanging world,  and Maria Karnilova as Golde, Tevye's sharp-tongued wife. The soundtrack was also released in '64 on the RCA Victor label and peaked at #7 on the Billboard 200.  Our copy belonged to my Wife's parents, as evidenced by her Mother's handwriting on the front cover.
