STUCK IN THE VINYL AGAIN - THE KINGSTON TRIO - TIME TO THINK

Good Tuesday morning to you all and welcome back to Stuck In The Vinyl Again . Today we remember San Diego, California native, singer songwriter, guitarist, and banjoist, John Stewart, on what would have been his 84th Birthday. He is best known for his work in the pop folk group, The Kingston Trio, and for writing the song,  "Daydream Believer".   John was born September 5, 1939 and by age 10 had composed his first song. He got his start with a high school garage band called  Johnny Stewart and the Furies before joining  Gil Robbins (father of actor Tim Robbins) and John Montgomery to form the Cumberland Three. That group was heavily influenced by The Kingston Trio. When Dave Guard departed the Trio in 1961, John Stewart took his place. He released over 30 albums with them, embarked on a 40 year solo career releasing nearly 50 albums of his own and recording over 600 songs. He passed away January 19, 2008, age 68, from a stroke. Today we have him on their 17th album, Time To Think. The LP was released December 1963 on the Capitol label and produced by Voyle Gilmore. It peaked at #18 on the Billboard Pop Charts and the birth of three singles ; "Ally Ally Oxen Free", "Last Night I Had the Strangest Dream", and "Seasons in the Sun".
