Documents turned over to a major public-interest group in Washington, D.C. by federal law enforcement have provided readers with a clear picture of one of the most -- if not the most -- powerful women in the United States. Judicial Watch, a nonpartisan watchdog group that investigates and exposes government corruption and criminal activity, had obtained files from the FBI and released them to the general public on Monday. Jarrett’s father, a physician who specialized pathology and genetics, Dr. James Bowman, according to the more than 70-pages obtained, had close personal ties to Communist organizations and individuals. FBI files reveal that in 1950, Dr. Bowman communicated with a paid Soviet Union spy named Alfred Stern, who escaped to USSR-satellite nation Czechoslovakia. Bowman was also an alleged member of a Communist-sympathizing group called the Association of Internes and Medical Students (AIMS). After his discharge from the Army Medical Corps in 1955, Bowman moved to Iran to work, the FBI records show. It was while in Iran that Valerie Jarrett was born. According to Bowman’s government file, the AIMS had been known to spout "the Communist Party line" as well as participating in what the FBI termed "un-American activities."

Bowman, who was born in Washington D.C., allegedly had close ties to fellow Communists in the city of Chicago with whom he collaborated. In addition,Judicial Watch obtained documents regarding Valerie Jarrett's father from the U.S. Office of Personnel Management (OPM) and they also revealed the FBI had been called to investigate him because he was allegedly a member of an organization that “follows the communist party line.” Jarrett’s maternal grandfather's connection to Communists also involved a business arrangement with Robert Rochon Taylor the Soviet agent associated with her father Alfred Stern.

Jarrett’s grandfather and the well-known Communist Frank Marshall Davis also associated with another politically active Chicagoan, Vernon Jarrett. In fact, Vernon Jarrett and Frank Marshall Davis worked together on the very small publicity team (a handful of people) of the communist-controlled Packinghouse Workers Union.
