The Obama White House and the Pentagon on Monday reported that Ali Awni al-Harzi, a Tunisian member of the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS), was believed to have been killed by a U.S. drone strike on June 15. The Pentagon also claims that al-Harzi was involved in the controversial Benghazi terrorist attack that left four Americans including the U.S. ambassador to Libya, dead. A Pentagon spokesman, U.S. Army Col. However, some counterterrorism experts are holding back their praise until there is confirmation of the killing of a Benghazi terrorist attack suspect. One former Marine and police terrorism task force member went as far as saying he's highly suspicious of the veracity of this latest Obama administration claim based on past experiences.

"It strikes me as convenient that one day after the House Select Committee on Benghazi chairman [Rep. Trey Gowdy] releases emails regarding the Benghazi terrorist attack on Sept. 11, 2012, President Barack Obama authorizes the release of information about al-Harzi being a person of interest in the Benghazi attack," said Mike Snopes, who now is a law enforcement adviser.

The Obama administration says that a videotape of the attack in Benghazi showed the "person of interest" near the consulate the night of that massacre, which made him a person of interest. “Al-Harzi operated closely with multiple ISIL-associated extremists throughout North Africa and the Middle East. His death degrades [ISIS's] ability to integrate North African jihadists into the Syrian and Iraqi fight and removes a jihadist with [sic] long ties to international terrorism,” said Col.
