SATURDAY'S SINGLES : CAMOUFLAGE and THE CHURCH

Good morning gang and welcome to the return of Saturday's Singles. Our first selection comes to us via German synth pop band Camouflage with their highest charting single, "The Great Commandment". The tune, released in 1987 on the Metronome label, hailed from their debut record, Voices & Images. The single reached #59 in America, #14 in Germany, #3 Alternative Airplau, and #1 on the Dance charts, where it remained for three weeks. Our copy comes in a picture sleeve, that indicates that the track, "Pompeji" is on the B-side, although the copy we own is a promotional copy with "The Great Commandment" of both sides. In the accompanying music video, a group of children discover a spokesperson who is speaking on stage is actually a robot.

The single reached #27 on Billboard's Mainstream Rock chart, and #94 in Australia. Our picture sleeve copy has  two songs on the B-side, that were also singles, "Under the Milky Way" (#90 UK, #69 Canada, #25 New Zealand, #24 Hot 100, #22 Australia, #2 Mainstream Rock) and "Tantalized" (#62 Australia).
