Good morning gang and welcome to the return of Saturday's Singles, a Birthday edition. First up, on our calendar of cake is Michael John Cloete Crawford Rutherford, known simply as Mike Rutherford, bassist for progressive pop rock band , Genesis. Mike is celebrating his 71st Birthday today and we celebrate it with him by spinning this 1981 Atlantic Records single, "Man On The Corner".  "Man On The Corner" hails from their 11th studio album, Abacab, and is produced by the band with Hugh Padgham. It peaked at #41 in the UK and #40 in America. It's B-side is  "Submarine", a non album track.

Our second set of Birthday candles belongs to another English bassist, Gordon Matthew Thomas Sumner CBE, known to the world as Sting, who turns 70 today. We mark the occasion by spotlighting this 1983 A&M track, "Synchronicity II", by The Police. The song, from their 5th and final record, Synchronicity, which was also produced by the band and Hugh Padgham. It reached #21 in Canada, #17 in the UK, and #16 in the US. It also features a non album track as it's B-side, "Once Upon a Daydream".
