Dark Clouds Rain Down Tears Washing Away Swirling Colors From The Clown's Face..
Good morning gang and welcome to the return of Saturday's Singles. Our first selection comes to us as we remember Norfolk County, Virginia musician and actor, Clarence Clemmons (Clarence Anicholas Clemons Jr.) , who passed away on this day in 2011. The Big Man, as Clemmons was known died of complications from a stroke at age 69. He was best known as the saxophonist for The E Street Band from 1972, until his death. We honor his legacy with this 1985 CBS Records single, "You're a Friend Of Mine", a duet with Jackson Browne. The song, written by Narada Michael Walden (who also serves as producer) and Jeffrey Cohen, hails from Clarence's second solo album, Hero. It peaked at #21 on the Adult Contemporary charts, #18 on the Hot 100, #16 on the Mainstream Rock charts, #12 in Belgium, #9 in Australia, and #7 in the Netherlands. It's B-side is "Let the Music Say It", a non album track.
I cannot find individual credits for this single, so I will post the credits from the Hero album.
