Good morning gang and welcome to the return of Saturday's Singles, a number ones edition. First up is "The Candy Man" by Sammy Davis Jr. The song was #1 on the Hot 100, on this day in 1972, where it remained for three weeks. It also topped the Cash Box and the Adult Contemporary charts. It was re;eased in 1972, on the MGM label and produced by Don Costa, Michael Viner, and Mike Curb, whose congregation, The Mike Curb Congregation, backs Davis on the track. The song appeared on both the 1971 film soundtrack to Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory and Sammy's 1972 album, Sammy Davis Jr. Now, which is also the parent album to this 45's B-side, "I Want To Be Happy".

Our second single, "Shadow Dancing" by Andy Gibb, brother to Bee Gees brothers, Barry, Robin, and Maurice Gibb, was the title track off his second studio album, released in 1978 on the RSO label and clenched the #1 position on the Hot 100, Record World, Radio and Records, and the Cash Box charts, as well as Canada and Brazil. The song was written by his aforementioned brothers and produced by Gibb-Galuten-Richardson ( Barry Gibb, Albhy Galuten and Karl Richardson) . It's B-side, "Let It Be Me" is from his debut album, Flowing Rivers.
