Good Monday morning gang and welcome back to Stuck In The Vinyl Again. Today we joyfully celebrate the 72nd Birthday of drummer and founding member of Deep Purple, Ian Paice. Happy Birthday Ian ! To commemorate the date, we spotlight their fourth studio album, Deep Purple in Rock. The LP was released June 5th, 1970 on the Warner Brothers label and produced by the band. It peaked at #143 on the Billboard 200, #4 in the UK, and #1 in Germany, Austria, and Australia. It has been certified Gold in multiple countries, including the US. The first track on the album, "Speed King" was the record's sole single. The album is considered an early predecessor to heavy metal.
