Good morning Wednesday warriors and welcome back to Stuck In The Vinyl Again. This week has brought us the sad news that both actor, comedian, director, screenwriter, and publisher Carl Reiner and American composer and arranger, Johnny Mandel, died on June 29th. Reiner was 98 years old, and Johnny 94. Today we spotlight the soundtrack album to the 1966 United Artists film, The Russians Are Coming, The Russians Are Coming. The movie stars  Carl Reiner, Eva Marie Saint, Alan Arkin, Brian Keith, Theodore Bikel, Jonathan Winters, John Phillip Law, Tessie O'Shea, and Paul Ford. The film score was composed, arranged and conducted by Johnny Mandel. The comedic plot follows a Russian submarine that runs aground a sandbar off the coast of a small New England island, during the Cold War. The artwork for the album and theatrical poster is by page favorite Jack Davis. We also have the movie on CED (Capacitance Electronic Disc), and I'll include pics of it too. The album was purchased last year, right here in Lakeland, at The Wax & The Needle.
