STUCJK IN THE VINYL AGAIN - BOBBY VEE - GOLDEN GREATS

Good morning Wednesday warriors and welcome back to the Stuck In The Vinyl Again. On this day in 1963, Fargo, North Dakota, native, singer, actor, and teen idol, Bobby Vee, married his one and only Wife, Karen Bergen. The pair would raise four children, (three sons and a daughter) during their 51 year marriage, which also saw them open  Rockhouse Productions, in St. Joseph, Minnesota, which continues in business to this day. Karen passed away August 3, 2015 age 71, from kidney failure and a little over a year later on October 24, 2016, Bobby followed her into the afterlife at age 73, after succumbing to complications of Alzheimer's disease. With them in mind on what would be their 59th wedding anniversary, we shine a light on Bobby's first compilation album, Bobby Vee's Golden Greats. The LP was released on Liberty Records in 1962 and produced by Snuff Garrett. It peaked at #22 on the Cash Box Mono charts and #24 on the Billboard 200. Among the songs included are "Take Good Care of My Baby", which was a #1 song in Canada, New Zealand, two charts in the UK, the Cash Box Top Ten Juke Box Tunes, the Cash Box Records Disc Jockeys Played Most list, the Cash Box Top 100, as well as the Billboard Hot 100. The last track on the album, "Someday" see Vee backed by The Crickets, the group formerly led by vocalist Buddy Holly. That song is also featured on and album  The Crickets released with Bobby on vocals called  Bobby Vee Meets the Crickets.

This album is one of our 'naked' records, as it does not have an album cover. I will post a stock photo, just so we know what it looks like.
