Good Tuesday morning to you all and welcome back to Stuck In The Vinyl Again. We thought April would be a fine time for a little April Wine ... the Canadian rock band, April Wine , that is. The multi Platinum recording artists formed in 1969 in Halifax, Nova Scotia have released more than 20 albums. It's their 10th studio recording, Power Play, that is our object of focus today. Power Play was released July 1982 on Capitol Records and produced by vocalist Myles Goodwyn and Mike Stone. It peaked at #37 on the Billboard 200 and #14 in Canada, where it has been certified Platinum. "Enough Is Enough" (#50 Hot 100, #12 Canada) and the Beatles' cover, "Tell Me Why" (#46 Canada) were released as singles. All in all, it's a pretty solid album. At times it sounds like the Canadian version of The Babys with a little of The Cars and Styx thrown in for good measure. This copy and two other April Wine albums were purchased years ago at Lakeland's own Wax & The Needle. They apparently were all three owned by Vicky Summers, who believed in writing her name on her records.
