Dark Clouds Rain Down Tears Washing Away Swirling Colors From The Clown's Face..
Good Monday morning gang, and welcome back to Stuck In The Vinyl Again, Today we remember rapper, bass player and filmmaker, Adam Yauch, one of the founding members of hip hop trio, the Beastie Boys, on this the 8th anniversary of his death. Adam, who went by the stage name, MCA, died in 2012, age 47 from cancer. He is terribly missed. With him in mind, we spotlight their historic debut album, Licensed To Ill. Licensed To Ill was released November 15, 1986 on the Def Jam and Columbia labels. It was the first rap album to reach #1 on the Billboard 200, literally paving the way for those who followed. It was produced by genius producer Rick Rubin along with the band and has been certified Diamond, with over ten million copies sold in the US alone. Rubin was also producing Slayer's Reign In Blood album at the time. This resulted in guitarist Kerry King guesting on two songs. Seven of the disc's 13 tracks were released as singles(*) as noted below :
1. "Rhymin & Stealin" 4:08
2. "The New Style" 4:35 (* #41 Hot Dance Club Play, #22 Hot Black Singles, #20 Hot Dance Music/Maxi-Singles Sales)
