Dark Clouds Rain Down Tears Washing Away Swirling Colors From The Clown's Face..
Good morning Wednesday warriors and welcome back to Stuck In The Vinyl Again . Today we remember beloved American disc jockey, music historian, radio personality, voice actor, and actor, Casey Kasem, on what would have been his 90th Birthday. The Michigan native passed away June 15, 2014, age 82, from sepsis. He is missed beyond belief. I can honestly say had it not been for Casey Kasem, Stuck In The Vinyl Again would not exist. He instilled a love for music and it's information in me at a young age. I would listen to the Countdowns weekly, a lot of time writing the songs, artists, and chart positions down so I could compare it to the next week's. Our focus today is this 6 record set of Casey's Top 40 for the week ending April 27-28. 1991. So this set would have aired on his 59th Birthday. This is one of 10 sets we have and the 5th one we've feature on the page. These are the broadcast sets that were sent to radio stations nationwide, complete with the countdown, national commercials, and cue sheets. The sets were supposed to be returned to Westwood One each week and destroyed but the practice was rarely enforced. They are some of my most favorite pieces in our collection.
