Dark Clouds Rain Down Tears Washing Away Swirling Colors From The Clown's Face..
Good morning gang and welcome back to the Labor Day 2023 edition of Stuck In The Vinyl Again, otherwise known as Monday . Today we remember Tennessee born country music vocalist and guitarist, and the first woman in country music to receive a Grammy, Dottie West (Dorothy Marie Marsh West), on this, the 32nd anniversary of her passing. She was born October 11, 1932 and died on this day in 1991, age 58, during surgery following a car accident. With her in mind, we spotlight her 20th studio album, If It's All Right With You/Just What I've Been Looking For. The LP was released May 1973 on the RCA Nashville label and produced by Jerry Bradley. It peaked at #37 on the Top Country Albums chart and the title tracks were released as singles; "If It's All Right with You" (#97 Hot 100, #48 Canada Country, #28 Hot Country Singles) and "Just What I've Been Looking For" (#44 Hot Country Singles) . Among the musicians joining West on the album is page favorite Hargus "Pig" Robbins on piano and a then unknown Larry Gatlin on back up vocals , who also contributed to the songwriting process with "Try to Win a Friend" and "Bitter They Are, Harder They Fall".
