Good morning record enthusiasts and welcome back to Stuck In The Vinyl Again. Today we celebrate the 73rd Birthday of Jamaican Calypso artist Horace Johnson. Happy Birthday Horace ! To mark the occasion, we spotlight this 1978 Folkways records release, Calypso-Rock Songs Of Jamaica. On it, Horace and The Eagle Star (Leroy Jones, Noel Dona, and Enel Allen) serve up a pleasant listening experience with a mixture of originals and covers by Harry Belafonte and
Trinidadian calypso singer, Mighty Sparrow. Our copy came from the Winter Haven Public Library, complete with a hard protective plastic cover and the Date Due card . The dates of that card indicate it was checked out in 1995 and 1996. Inside the album is a Xeroxed copy of the liner notes and lyric sheet.
