Good morning gang and welcome back to the to the wonderful Friday edition of Stuck In The Vinyl Again. Today we remember Jacksonville born founding member and guitarist of Southern rock band Molly Hatchet, Dave Hlubek, on what would have been his 69th Birthday. He passed away in 2017, age 66, from a heart attack. We honor his legacy by spinning the group's third studio album, Beatin' The Odds. Beatin' The Odds was released September 1980 on Epic Records and produced by Tom Werman and Pat Armstrong. The Platinum certified disc reached #90 in Canada and #25 in America. It gave birth to one single, "The Rambler" , which peaked at #91 on the Hot 100. The cover art is titled "Conan the Conqueror" by Frank Frazetta, the sci-fi and fantasy artist. It was the first LP to feature new vocalist Jimmy Farrar, who replaced Danny Joe Brown. The spot is currently held by Jimmy Elkins, who happens to be from here, in Polk County. Jimmy got his start in a local Molly Hatchet tribute band called Bounty Hunter.
