Dark Clouds Rain Down Tears Washing Away Swirling Colors From The Clown's Face..
Great Monday morning gang and welcome back to Stuck In The Vinyl Again. Today we remember California born soprano vocalist and actress, Marni Nixon (Margaret Nixon McEathron) on this the 7th anniversary of her passing. She was born February 22, 1930 and passed away July 24, 2016, age 86, from breast cancer. She is best known as a ghost singer, as she provided uncredited vocals for stars in film where their own voice didnt quite pass the test, like Deborah Kerr in The King and I, Natalie Wood in West Side Story, and Audrey Hepburn in My Fair Lady. The latter is our selection today. May Fair Lady, the film, was released October 21, 1964. It is a musical comedy-drama film adapted from the 1956 Lerner and Loewe stage musical based on George Bernard Shaw's 1913 stage play Pygmalion. The screenplay is written by Alan Jay Lerner and directed by George Cukor and stars Audrey Hepburn as Eliza Doolittle, Rex Harrison as Henry Higgins, with Stanley Holloway, Gladys Cooper and Wilfrid Hyde-White in supporting roles. Nixon provided the female vocals on all the songs except "Just You Wait" which features them both.l The soundtrack was released in 1964 on the Columbia Masterworks label. The songs were composed by Frederick Loewe with lyrics by Alan Jay Lerner and conducted by André Previn. This album originally belonged to my Mother-In--Law. I recognize her handwriting on the back.
