Good morning, morning people and welcome back to the Thursday edition of Stuck In The Vinyl Again. Today we celebrate the 71st Birthday of British heavy metal front man, Rob Halford, best known for his work in Judas Priest, Fight, 2wo, and Halford. Happy Birthday Rob ! With him in mind, we spotlight this Westwood One Off The Record Special With Mary Turner. The record is from 1983 and features host Mary "The Burner" Turner Pattiz as she interviews various acts of the day. Side one is from the week of October 4, 1982, and features Carlos Santana, Peter Frampton and members of the new wave band, Novo Combo. Side two, from the week of October 11, 1982, features Rob Halford, Geddy Lee, and members of A Flock Of Seagulls. I have a cue sheet for side two but not side 1.
We took a deep dive in celebrating Rob's Birthday by listening to our three Priest albums on vinyl (Point of Entry, Screaming for Vengeance, and Defenders of the Faith) , as well as the 45 we have of them from the Johnny B. Good movie. We didn't stop there though, we even broke out the cassettes listening to Hell Bent For Leather and Painkiller. I'll enclose photos of the LPs and cassettes . Oddly enough we don't have them on any CDs.
