Good Tuesday morning to you all and welcome back to Stuck In The Vinyl Again . Today we remember Durham, North Carolina native, comedian, singer, dancer, and actor, Dewey "Pigmeat" Markham, on what would have been his 119th Birthday. He was born in 1904 and got his start performing with Bessie Smith's Traveling Revue and later moved into films and performances at The Apollo. The 50s saw him move towards television appearing on the Ed Sullivan Show and Laugh In and the 60s brought us a series of comedy albums , including today's selection. The shows were recorded September 15 and 16, 1961,at the Howard Theatre in Washington,D.C. Appearing with Pigmeat were Edna Mae Harris and Chuck Thompson. At The Party was released later that year on Chess Records. Markham passed away December 13, 1981, age 77, from a stroke.
