Good Tuesday morning to you, morning people and welcome back to Stuck In The Vinyl Again. Today we remember guitarist, vocalist and the man who opened Woodstock, Richie Havens, on what would have been his 79th Birthday. The Brooklyn native passed away in 2013, age 72, from a heart attack. To honor his legacy, we spotlight what some perceive as his best album, his debut album, Mixed Bag. Mixed Bag was released in 1967 (although I've found sources that also say '66 and '68) on the Verve Folkways label and produced by John Court. It peaked at #182 on the Billboard 200 and #18 on the Jazz Albums chart. On it he covers The Beatles, Gordon Lightfoot, and Bob Dylan. The track "Morning, Morning" was arranged by Mountain bassist and vocalist Felix Pappalardi .
