Dark Clouds Rain Down Tears Washing Away Swirling Colors From The Clown's Face..
Good Monday morning gang and boy is it a Monday. I woke up late (5 am as opposed to 3:30) and I'm having technical difficulties, so I'm going to post a shortened version of today's post.
(UPDATE : Well, I convinced Hal to open the bay doors and I'm up and running again, so I will edit and add the track listing and credits.)
Anyway, today we gleefully celebrate the 83rd Birthday of North Carolina based jazz, folk, soul and R&B singer, Roberta Flack. In doing so, we spotlight her 5th studio record, Killing Me Softly. The LP was released August 1, 1973 on the Atlantic label and produced by Joel Dorn. It peaked at #3 on Billboard's Top LP And Tapes chart and #2 on the Soul charts. Two singles were released, "Killing Me Softly With His Song"(#1 Hot 100, Canada) and "Jesse".
Here's a fun story concerning Roberta Flack and how the Mrs. and our youngest daughter got to see her. Around Christmas 2011, our daughter KC took it upon herself to call one of the local radio stations that was playing Christmas music and request "I Want A Hippopotamus For Christmas". She just so happened to call in and be the correct caller to win Roberta Flack tickets. We were in the garage and she rushed in all excited, handing the phone to her Mom, saying 'I won something'. She got her song played too. I'll enclose a photo of the Mrs' ticket.
