Today we are thrilled to wish Chicago born singer- songwriter and drummer, Chaka Kahn (Yvette Marie Stevens), a very Happy 70th Birthday ! Happy Birthday Chaka ! She was born March 23, 1953 to parents, Charles Stevens and Sandra Coleman and during the course of her 6 decade career has released 7 album with the funk band, Rufus, released 15 solo albums, and appeared on many others as a guest. To get her party started, we find ourselves spinning the third studio album by Rufus, Rufus Featuring Chaka Kahn. The LP was released November 18, 1975 on the ABC label and produced by the band. The record reached #86 in Australia, #7 on the Billboard 200, and #1 on the Top Soul LPs chart and saw the birth of three singles ; "Sweet Thing" (#68 Canada, #5 Hot 100, #1 R&B), "Dance Wit Me" (#75 Canada, #39 Hot 100, #5 R&B), and "Jive Talkin'" (#35 R&B), the album's closer and a cover of the Bee Gees.
