Dark Clouds Rain Down Tears Washing Away Swirling Colors From The Clown's Face..
Good morning record enthusiasts and welcome back to the Sunday edition of Stuck In The Vinyl Again. Today marks 57th years since that fateful day in Dallas Texas, when the 35th President Of The United States, John F. Kennedy, was assassinated while traveling in a presidential motorcade. With him in mind, we spotlight this 1963 Deeca Records vinyl transcription of the special 11/23/63 airing of THAT WAS THE WEEK THAT WAS - The British Broadcasting Corporation's Tribute to JOHN FITZGERALD KENNEDY. That Was The Week That Was, was a satire news program that scraped their scheduled programming to air a somber tribute to the slain President. It aired the day following the horrific act. Side one starts with each cast member giving their on thoughts on the events and ends with the debut of a song, "In the Summer of His Years," written for the occasion and sung by Millicent Martin. Side 2 has Dame Sybil Thorndike reading a Caryl Brahms poem, "To Jackie" and ends with a look towards the new President, LBJ.
