Good morning record enthusiasts and welcome back to the Sunday edition of Stuck In The Vinyl Again. According to the National Event Calendar, today (08/13/23) is International Lefthanders Day, a day set aside to celebrate left-handedness and to raise awareness of the issues that lefties face as we live in a world designed for right-handers. (Full disclosure" I'm a Southpaw.) Among famous lefthanders are US Presidents like Ronald Reagan, Bill Clinton, and Barack Obama, actors like Ben Stiller, Jerry Seinfeld, and Bruce Willis, and musicians such as David Bowie, Eminem, Jimi Hendrix, and the subject of today's post, Barry Winslow, best known as the lead vocalist for the Ocala, Florida based rock band, The Royal Guardsmen. Today we are spinning their debut album, Snoopy Vs. The Red Baron. The LP was released in 1967 on Laurie Records and was produced by Phil A. Gernhard. It peaked at #44 on the Billboard 200. The title track (#8 New Zealand, UK, #2 Hot 100, #1 Australia, Canada) and "Baby Let's Wait" (did not chart) were released as singles.
