Good morning Wednesday warriors and welcome back to Stuck In The Vinyl Again. Today we celebrate Harlem born disco vocalist, Alexander Briley, best known as the original  G.I. and later the Sailor in the Village People, as he celebrates his 72nd Birthday. Happy Birthday Alex ! He was born in 1951 and as the son of a Christian minister, got an early start singing in church and later studied voice at the University of Hartford. Today we have him on the group's 5th studio album/ 1st live album, Live And Sleazy. The double LP was released September 1979 on the  Casablanca and and was produced by  Jacques Morali. It peaked at #80 in Japan, #69 in Australia, #32 on the Billboard 200, #25 in Sweden, #23 in Canada, and #13 in Norway. Two singles were released ; "Ready for the 80's" (#52 Hot 100, #30 France, #26 Billboard Disco Top 100) and "Sleazy" (#76 Japan, #26 Disco Top 100) . The first record in the set is labeled Live and the second one Sleazy. The Village People are backed by the band Bittersweet.
